London 2012: The Official Video Game of the Olympic Games

London 2012 is the official Olympic video game of the upcoming 2012 Summer Olympics to be held in London. It was published by Sega and developed by Sega Studios Australia, making this the first Olympics title to be developed in-house by Sega. It was released on 26 June 2012 in North America, 28 June in Australia, and 29 June in Europe.

It is also the second official video game based on the 2012 Olympics, the other being Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Mafia II is a third-person action-adventure video game, the sequel to Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. It is developed by 2K Czech, previously known as Illusion Softworks, and is published by 2K Games.Originally announced in August 2007 at the Leipzig Games Convention, it was released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in August 2010. The Mac OS X edition of the game was published by Feral Interactive in December 2011.A version of the game for mobile platforms was developed by Twistbox Entertainment and released in 2010 by Connect2Media.

Gameplay:

The game is set in the 1940s-1950s era of Empire Bay, a fictional city based on New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston and Detroit.There are 30-40 vehicles in the game (45 with DLC) as well as licensed music from the era.

Many firearms from the previous return, such as the Thompson submachine gun and Colt 1911, as well as a pump-action shotgun (though it was changed from a Winchester Model 12 to a Remington 870). New WWII-era weapons like the MP 40, the M3 submachine gun, the MG 42 and the Beretta Model 38 also appear in the game.

Interacting with objects in the environment involves two action buttons- a standard action and a "violent" action (for example, when stealing a car, the player may choose to either pick its lock or break the window glass), used in context-sensitive situations. A map is included as in the original Mafia game. The checkpoint system has been completely overhauled. New controls include a cover system that allows the player to hide behind objects (such as generators, walls and large crates) to shoot enemies, rather than just using a crouch while behind an object.

It has been stated by 2K Czech that the game's cutscenes are created by the game engine, in real-time, rather than pre-rendered cutscenes. For example, if the player is riding in a car and a cut scene starts, the player will be driving the same car and if the car is damaged, that too will appear in the cut scene.Certain scenes, however, such as the opening sequence and the Empire Arms Hotel explosion, were presented as pre-rendered Bink videos.

The game has three different in game radio stations, Empire Central Radio, Empire Classic Radio and Delta Radio, with licensed music, news, and commercials. The radio stations includes music from different genres including rock and roll, big band, rhythm and blues, doo-wop, among others with licensed songs by Chuck Berry, The Everly Brothers, Dean Martin, Little Richard, Muddy Waters, Buddy Holly & The Crickets, Bing Crosby, Bill Haley & His Comets, The Chordettes, Bo Diddley, Rick Nelson, Eddie Cochran, The Champs, The Drifters, The Fleetwoods, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, The Andrews Sisters, among others.

Rockstar (2011)-Blu Ray

Rockstar is 2011 Indian musical romantic drama film directed by Imtiaz Ali, starring Ranbir Kapoor and debutant Nargis Fakhri, with music composed by A. R. Rahman. The film also starsShammi Kapoor, Moufid Aziz, Aditi Rao Hydari, Piyush Mishra, Shernaz Patel and Kumud Mishra, with the former making his last silver screen appearance. The film was produced by Eros International Ltd. along with Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. It follows Janardhan Jakhar a.k.a. JJ and Jordan, who dreams of becoming a big rockstar. He undergoes an emotional change to do so and during the process, a love story follows with a girl named Heer, which takes him from India to Prague.

Development of Rockstar commenced in May 2010. Nargis Fakhri was cast as the female lead, after plans to give the role to Kareena Kapoor were shelved. Filming in India took place at Delhi,Kashmir, Mumbai and Dharamsala, while the foreign sequences were shot in Prague, Europe.

Rockstar was released on 11 November 2011. On the day of release, Tibetans in Chennai and Dharmasala protested against the Central Board of Film Certification for asking the film-makers to censor scenes featuring the Tibetan flag. Upon release, the film received positive to mixed reviews. Film critics highlighted Ranbir and Rahman as the stars of the film, but panned the plot. The film did well at the box office, managing to appeal to the youngsters in the cities. Made on a budget of 60 crore (US$11.97 million), Rockstar grossed 108 crore (US$21.55 million)worldwide. Ranbir's character brought him awards for best actor from Filmfare and Star Screen. Rahman also received several awards for his music, including Filmfare and Zee TV.

Plot summary:

Dressed in Persian clothes, chased by hooligans, famous Indian-born Rockstar, Jordan, barely makes it to a Czech stadium to perform before a huge crowd. It was not too long ago that he was just an awkward uninhibited collegian wanna-be musician with a name of Janardhan Jakhar, who was ridiculed everywhere. His family wanted him to be inducted in their business but he refuses. He is counseled that music comes after experiencing pain, so he decides to woo Heer Kaul, the hottest girl on the college's 'Chicklist' in order to be rejected by her and thus experience pain. Initially he does face rejection from the sophisticated and cultured Heer, but quite surprisingly they subsequently become close friends, and he finds that underneath the stiff upper lip, there is a woman who is full of life and wants to experience it before getting married to Prague-based Jai. The duo hang-out together, watch a soft-porn movie, drink desi daru, travel to Kashmir, and he assists in her marriage preparations. After her departure, he reluctantly joins the family business, makes a mess, and is kicked out. He persists with his music, finally makes it big and signs a contract with a big music company. Things couldn't be better and he decides to pay Heer a visit. Both get together and hang-out as they did in India - but soon Jordan will be forced to confront a gun-toting Jai; be arrested by Prague Police; returned to India - where he will be face not fans - but angry crowds, a hostile media, and be blamed for compounding Heer's illness.

GMAT : Quantative Review (The Official Guide)

The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review is the quant supplement for the Official Guide series published by GMAC, the creators of the GMAT. As is the case with the Official Guide for GMAT Review and the Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review, this book contains retired GMAT questions and as such is a great source of practice problems. With real GMAT questions from previous GMAT exams, this brand-new study guide can help you focus on your math skill, with nearly 300 answers and explanations in the following areas: Arithmetic- Algebra- Geometry- Problem Solving- Data Sufficiency.

However, the concepts section of the quant supplement is not worth your time. It is virtually a copy-paste of the equivalent section in the Official Guide for GMAT Review, in itself undoubtedly insufficient for anyone looking to get a high score in quant. Although “the math skills tested [typo in the supplement – the authors wrote “test” instead of “tested”] on the GMAT test are quite basic” as the book suggests in one of its “Myth vs. Fact” information boxes, basic math can and will be tricky on the GMAT. The book contains:

• 176 Problem Solving
• 124 Data Sufficiency

Pros

• Retired GMAT questions will familiarize the test taker with commonly-tested question patterns on the GMAT. Unofficial questions sometimes lack the structure of actual questions; this is because test prep companies have not succeeded in replicating the GMAT official “style” in their own practice problems
• It’s great value for your money – particularly useful for GMAT hopefuls having trouble with Data Sufficiency, since 124 extra practice questions of this GMAT-specific type of problem will be valuable
• Questions are ordered in increasing level of difficulty, so if you are interested in a particular level (say advanced), you can just focus on the corresponding part of the book

Cons

• Does not provide many advanced practice problems, so if you feel you have a solid quant background, it’s sufficient to go through the regular Official Guide for GMAT Review book
• Tips/strategies section is below average, so expect to spend some money on a guidebook or two that provides better GMAT concept overview
• Explanations are not as high quality as those found on the Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review. You might notice that there are easier or faster ways to solve some of the problems presented

Wrath of the Titans

Wrath of the Titans is a 2012 American fantasy film and sequel to the 2010 film Clash of the Titans. The film stars Sam Worthington, Rosamund Pike, Bill Nighy, Édgar Ramírez, Toby Kebbell, Danny Huston, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson with Jonathan Liebesman directing a screenplay by Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson. Wrath of the Titans takes place a decade after the events of the first film as the gods lose control over the imprisoned Titans and Perseus is called once again, this time to rescue his father Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

Storyline:

Ten years after he defeated the Kraken, Perseus (Sam Worthington), the demigod son of Zeus (Liam Neeson), now lives as a fisherman with his 10-year-old son, Heleus (John Bell). One night, Perseus is visited by Zeus, who tells him that the powers of the gods are fading and the walls of the underworld prison of Tartarus are breaking due to the lack of devotion from humans and states they will need the world's armies to combat the potential threat, but Perseus shows little interest and refuses to get involved. Afterwards, Zeus travels to Tartarus to meet with his brothers Hades (Ralph Fiennes) and Poseidon (Danny Huston), and his son Ares (Edgar Ramirez). He tells Hades they must forget the past and unite to rebuild Tartarus, but Hades orders his minions to attack. They severely injure Poseidon, and Ares betrays Zeus over showing Perseus more affection, taking him prisoner and stealing his thunderbolt. Hades and Ares plan to drain Zeus' power to revive Kronos, the father of Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon, in exchange for the two to remain immortal. The walls of Tartarus break, unleashing monsters into the world. The Titans' strength grows stronger as Zeus' remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth. Enlisting the help of the warrior Queen Andromeda (Rosamund Pike), Poseidon's demigod son, Argenor (Toby Kebbell), and fallen god Hephaestus (Bill Nighy), Perseus bravely embarks on a treacherous quest into the underworld to rescue Zeus, overthrow the Titans and save mankind.

Angry Birds Rio is a puzzle video game developed by Rovio Mobile. Based on the wildly successful Angry Birds, Angry Birds Rio was released for devices using Apple's iOS, Google's Android and Mac OS X in March 2011. The game was released as a marketing tie-in with the 20th Century Fox animated film Rio, and was promoted along with the movie. While utilizing the same basic gameplay as the original game, Angry Birds Rio added a number of new elements, most notably the first use of boss levels. The game is consistently one of the top downloaded applications on both the App Store and the Play Store. 

In Rio, the familiar Angry Birds have been kidnapped and taken to Rio de Janeiro. Just as in the original Angry Birds, players use a slingshot to launch birds at nearby structures, with the intent of hitting targets located on or within them. Instead of evil pigs that have stolen eggs, players must now rescue caged exotic birds or defeat evil marmosets, depending on the level being played. Certain levels allow players to use Blu and Jewel, the two lead characters from Rio. The game also includes the first boss fights to appear in the series, when the player uses the birds to defeat Nigel, the main antagonist from the film, and his marmoset lackeys. The game also includes new hidden items to collect as the player progresses through the game.
